AI for teams: shared chats, shared projects and shared credits
Teams use Tinkerly to work with GPT models from one place, each person on their own account. Shared projects hold the chats and files everyone needs, and the AI in a project chat can read the project’s other chats. An owner can give teammates credits, and every answer shows its cost before it’s sent.

What does a team get in Tinkerly?
Two separate things. A team, on the Team page, shares credits: the owner invites people by email and gives them credits. Sharing works on chats and projects: you invite people to a particular chat or project, team or not. Being on a team doesn’t show anyone your chats.
| Question | Team | Shared chat | Shared project |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it shares | Credits from the owner | One chat, live | Every chat and file in the project |
| How people join | Invite by email | A link you send yourself | A link you send yourself |
| Who pays for answers | Each person, with their own credits | Whoever sends the message | Whoever sends the message |
| Who sees the chats | Nobody: a team shares no chats | Everyone invited to it | Every member of the project |
A team can have up to 50 people besides its owner. The owner sees the credits each member was given and used in the last 30 days. Members don’t see each other’s usage, and credits you give stay with the person you gave them to, even if they leave.
How do you share an AI chat with your team?
Open the chat, choose Share, then People, and make an invite link. You pick whether people can edit or only view, whether one person or anyone with the link can join, and whether the link works for 1, 7 or 30 days. Then send the link however you like.
Tinkerly sends no email for these invites: you paste the link into your team’s usual channel. Everyone in the chat sees each prompt and answer as it’s written. Only one answer runs at a time, so two people pressing Send together get one answer and a short wait. You can switch any link off, and remove people, at any time.
A public link is different: it shows the chat as it was when you made it, to anyone with the address, and later messages stay private until you update it.
What is a shared project?
A project is a folder for one piece of work: its chats, its files, and instructions the AI follows in every chat inside it. Invite people to the project and they get every chat and file in it. Editors can start new chats there; viewers can read along.
In a project chat the AI is told about the project’s other chats, with a short summary of each, and about its documents and spreadsheets. On models that can use tools it can also search them, so “what did we decide about the launch date?” can be answered from last week’s chat.
What does a weekly team update look like?
This is the home page’s team example. In a project chat, one message asks the AI to sum up the week’s project chats, draw the release process and draft the release notes. The summary comes back in the chat, the process as a diagram, and the notes as a document.
Step 1: Ask in the project
“Sum up this week’s project chats, draw our release process and draft the release notes.”
Step 2: The summary
“Search is faster after Tuesday’s fix. Version 2.4 goes out on Monday. Sam needs the screenshots by Thursday.”
Step 3: The diagram
The release process drawn step by step, which you can change by asking or by editing its code.
Step 4: The document
“Release notes: version 2.4”, a preview to keep, change or discard, saved to the project when you keep it.
How much does Tinkerly cost for a team?
There’s no fee per seat. Each person has their own account and pays for their own answers at the chosen model’s price, shown before they send. An owner can buy credits once and hand them out on the Team page, then see how many each person used in the last 30 days.
The lowest-priced model today is GPT-4o mini, at 1 credit a chat message. Free accounts get 15 credits every day on the models marked Free. On GPT-4o mini, at 1 credit a message, that’s about 15 chat answers a day. That applies to each person’s account. A failed answer costs nothing. Credits you buy never expire. Prices for every model are on the pricing page.
Can teammates see what I spend or what I ask?
No. In a shared chat, a cost and its refund are shown only to the person who sent that message, and the chat’s running total counts only your own requests. A team owner sees how many credits each member used, never what they wrote. People see only the chats and projects they were invited to.
Tinkerly doesn’t sell your data or use it for advertising. The AI company whose model you pick receives what you send it, only to answer you. Nothing you make is shown to anyone else until you invite someone to a chat or project, or make a public link to a chat. Each person can download or delete their own data in Settings. The privacy policy has the details.
