How to make a pitch deck from your business plan with AI
Give Tinkerly your business plan as a file, a document or pasted text, and ask for a ten-slide investor pitch. It writes an outline first. Check every number against the plan, cut what investors don’t need, describe the look, then design the slides and present or download them.

What do you need before you start?
You need your business plan with its latest figures, the amount you are raising and what it pays for, and a clear idea of who will see the deck. Have your logo and a product photo ready if you want them on the slides. The AI turns the plan into slides; it can’t know numbers the plan leaves out.
- The business plan. Attach it as a PDF, Word (.docx), text or Markdown file (up to 6 files at once), pick it from your AI Docs library with From a document, or paste the sections that matter most.
- The numbers, checked. Revenue, customers, growth, prices and costs as they are today, not as they were when the plan was written.
- The ask. How much you’re raising, what it pays for and the milestone it gets you to.
- Your brand. Colours and fonts in words, and your logo and photos to add in the editor with Insert → Picture from your computer.
Writing the outline, designing the slides and every change you ask for is charged in credits at the chosen model’s price per message. A failed or empty answer costs nothing. Free accounts get 15 credits every day on the models marked free.
Which slides should a pitch deck have?
A common structure for a first investor meeting is ten slides: title, problem, solution, market, product, business model, traction, competition, team and the ask. It is general advice, not a rule: move traction earlier if your numbers are strong, and drop what doesn’t apply to your company yet.
| Question | What it says | A layout that fits |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Title | Company name, one line on what you do, your name and contact | Title |
| 2. Problem | Who has the problem and what it costs them today | Big number or Points |
| 3. Solution | What you offer and why it solves the problem | Picture left or Icons and points |
| 4. Market | How many customers there are and what they spend, with your source | Figures |
| 5. Product | What it looks like and how it works | Picture right or Process |
| 6. Business model | How you make money: prices, margins, who pays | Two columns |
| 7. Traction | Customers, revenue, growth and milestones so far | Chart or Figures |
| 8. Competition | Who else solves it and why customers choose you | Comparison |
| 9. Team | Who you are and why you can build this | Team |
| 10. The ask | How much you’re raising, what it pays for, and what it gets you to | Timeline or Closing |
The layouts are the ones you can choose for each slide in the outline. The AI picks one per slide, and you can change it before the slides are designed.
How do you turn a business plan into a pitch deck, step by step?
Start a deck from your plan in AI Slides or in a chat, ask for ten slides, and check the outline the AI writes. Correct every figure, set each slide’s layout and describe your brand’s look. Then design the slides, polish them one at a time, and rehearse with the speaker notes.
Step 1: Update the plan first
Fix any figure that has changed since the plan was written. The deck can only be as accurate as what it’s made from.
Step 2: Start the deck from the plan
In AI Slides, choose From a document, or attach the plan, or paste it, and say what you need: “A 10-slide seed pitch deck from this business plan, for investors.” In a chat, the same request works with the plan attached.
Step 3: Set the size and length
Pick 16:9 for screens and 10 slides, with AI pictures on key slides or none. Press Generate outline, or wait for the outline card in the chat.
Step 4: Check every number in the outline
Read each slide’s points against the plan: revenue, growth, market size, prices, dates and names. Edit any point in place. A wrong number is easy to fix here and embarrassing in a meeting.
Step 5: Choose the layouts
Set Figures or Chart for traction, Comparison for competition and Team for the team. Delete slides you don’t need and add any that are missing.
Step 6: Describe your look
In the Look field, write your colours and fonts: “Navy and white with a coral accent, clean sans-serif headings, lots of space.” The AI designs every slide in it.
Step 7: Design the slides
Press Design slides in AI Slides, or Create presentation on the chat card. The slides arrive a few at a time; the deck is saved in your library as it’s made.
Step 8: Polish slide by slide
Ask for changes to one slide (“Put the three traction numbers side by side”) or to every slide (“More formal wording”). Select part of a slide to change only it, and add your logo with Insert. Each AI change is one step to undo.
Step 9: Rehearse and share
The outline gives each slide speaker notes. Edit them into what you’ll say, then rehearse in the presenter view, which shows the notes, the next slide and a timer. You can download it as PowerPoint (.pptx) with the notes, or as a PDF to send ahead.
How do you get a better pitch deck from AI?
Tell the AI which numbers to use, what to leave out and who the audience is. Ask it to mark a missing figure instead of guessing one, keep one message per slide, and use speaker notes for the detail. Short, exact requests for single slides beat rewriting the whole deck.
- Guard the numbers: “Use only the figures in my plan. Where a figure is missing, write [number needed] instead of estimating it.”
- Name the stage and the reader: “For seed investors who don’t know the restaurant industry.”
- Make one point per slide: “Rewrite the problem slide as one sentence a stranger would understand, with the cost to customers as a big number.”
- Show traction clearly: “Turn slide 7 into a chart of monthly revenue for the last six months.”
- Keep detail out of sight: “Move the explanations into the speaker notes and leave three short points on the slide.”
What are the most common mistakes?
The most common mistakes are copying the plan’s length onto slides, trusting figures without checking them, quoting a market size with no source, and ending without a clear ask. A pitch deck is a short story for one meeting, not the business plan with bigger fonts.
- Too much text. Investors read a slide in seconds. Detail belongs in the notes or in the plan you send later.
- Unchecked numbers. The AI can round a figure, mix up two years or fill a gap with an estimate. Check each one in the outline.
- A market size from nowhere. Give the source of your market figures and ask the AI to name it on the slide.
- No ask. The last slide should say how much you’re raising, what it pays for and what it gets you to.
How many slides should a pitch deck have?
For a first investor meeting, most advice settles on 10 to 12 slides: enough for the problem, solution, market, traction, team and ask, short enough to present in about ten minutes. A deck you send ahead to be read alone can carry more detail. This is general advice; investors differ.
Can AI make up numbers in a pitch deck?
It can. When a plan leaves a figure out, an AI may fill the gap with a plausible guess. Ask it to use only your plan’s figures and to mark anything missing, then check every number in the outline before you design the slides. You are the one presenting them.
